Microsoft’s latest optional update, KB5089573, brings a noticeable boost to Windows 11 thanks to a new Low Latency Profile — the first feature to emerge from the company’s behind‑the‑scenes Project K2 performance push. The profile gives the CPU short bursts of maximum power whenever Windows needs to react instantly, resulting in up to 70% faster flyouts and around 40% quicker app launches in early testing. The update is available now under Optional updates.

May 29, 2026 at 6:30 pm #42741Yes, it does sound interesting in that the boost works in very short bursts (roughly 1–3 seconds) to improve responsiveness rather than sustained performance.
Are you going to try it with KB5089573 which is already available now as an optional “Preview” update for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 – otherwise I think KB5089573 will be deployed sometime in June

I updated to the this ‘2026-05 Preview Update (KB5089573) (26200.8524)’ on 27/05/2026. I have a AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, no idea if it is actually doing anything for me. I heard File Explorer is supposed to be more snappy. It does seems a bit less cumbersome when loading, but not sure if it is just a placebo.

May 30, 2026 at 6:33 am #42747The KB5089573 update is designed for x64 (AMD64) and ARM64 systems so looks like good news for yourself.
Given your using the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D which is high end CPU, the improvements maybe less noticeable.
What MB you running with that setup ?

May 30, 2026 at 8:36 am #42748Don’t see any difference in my setup, but it was fine and fast before as well, so dont know what I should look for.
If it is even faster now I don’t realize it (old man).
At least there is no disadvantage for me.Forum seems to be snappier now (really fast), but don’t think there is any relationship to this Windows update.

I am running this motherboard.

Built the PC myself as a project with my son couple of months ago. I had 32GB ddr5 RAM and a few gen5 ssd’s that I purchased before the AI apocalypse hit us.

Not too old I’m sure

Yes, I disabled Cloudflare’s configs the other day as this was causing me lots of issues, so hopefully forum stays a little snappier.

June 3, 2026 at 5:56 am #42759Well, Windows is always good for me as I’ve worked with it a long time, though Linux is always a pain it has its occasional uses lol
Already doing this on mine via UEFI settings and custom tuning, plus using Process Lasso and having full control over system resources/turbo etc, but is rather intriguing. This system isn’t exactly slow anyway but that could improve creative and 3D application loading speed at the least. It might be enough to make all my tuning profiles and scripting useless! Though i always tune latency for DPC reasons, might be a good thing.
