@mrk26 You are having fun, let us know how you applied cap (cmds) and do please keep us all updated
Well is a bit of fun with positive results at the end :D
First cap applied to 50 Mb/s with command: bcm_xdslctl configure –maxDataRate 50000 20000 100000
First number is download, next upload, third don’t touch :P
Modem will re-sync straightaway once you hit “enter”, to remove cap you need to reboot modem, this command will survive re-sync initiated by DLM . I read somewhere that for DLM pleasure shouldn’t be more than 3 FEC/s, that will give easy calculation. I will check after a 1 hour, 12 hours and 24 hours. If i will fit with above calculation I will not cap any further just wait for DLM to remove interleave on downstream.
Once again thank you @UK Sentinel for this ability.
P.S
All credits to guys from Kitz forum for tips, i just figure out correct command after playing a little bit with these from other forum.
P.S2
Before somebody place any funny comments about playing with these as provider may don’t like it I would like to say that they don’t like for people play with reducing SNR, in this occasion I increased SNR to make line more stable, hope will be helpful for somebody else.

I needed unlocked telnet to put cap on my line, yes that is correct. If you cap line modem will reboot with same max speed just lower data rate speed but also with higher SNR what should help to reduce FEC errors.
I couldn’t wait :P , first cap applied and will report results. (already lower amount of FEC errors).

If telnet is unlocked that give another advantages with Broadcom chipset modems, and this will be very helpful for me at the current situation.

I will wait few more days to see how DLM will react and if that will end up with lower cap then I will do things from my side :D

After I find this out firs job was to find where they join together, so after a half day looking for nicely hidden plate in one of the wardrobes i disconnected all extensions apart of one to which is connected modem (can’t connect direct to master socket because is placed by the front door, I couldn’t imagine worse place) that give me straightaway 12Mb/s boost on sync (on modem currently used not the Asus), when compared with master socket there is no much difference now (maybe kilobytes). So in this case I’m convinced about wiring in my house. I believe the Broadcom chipset is to sensitive because on lantiq chipset modem I get around 140k fec errors in week time.
If you look on my latest screen shoot you will see that I’m capped on download now because of millions of these errors. I believe if amount of these errors will keep to high (even that modem do great job to correct them, DLM don’t like it) I will be capped even lower, and then will be a time to give a call to provider I guess.

@sentinel uk
Just a small update to yesterday screenshot, because of milion fec errors download is on cap now and upload is on fast patch (resync last night) . Good think is that is a lot less errors now so maybe these won’t be to bad for DLM.

I have emailed ASUS so will let you know about unlocked Firmware.
I already spoke with my provider (EE), I suspected that there is a cap on my line because on the beginning I was able to go above 65Mb/s now I just kick in 60Mb/s, so they told me that there is no any cap on my line and they try to feed me with bu… t about 10 days training period where on other forum BTOR engineer confirmed that there is no such thing on Vdsl, yes it was on ADSL.
Of course I didn’t help for DLM by reseting modem few times, and now when I see milion of FEC errors I’m pretty sure there is no hope for better sync speed unless I have telnet unlocked, then I can try solution from other forum, which works with modem on BCM chipset and ECI cabinet.

I can attache screen from asus, where you can see that is sync really good (lot better than eci) but still I’m on interleave and with amount of fec errors I’m far away from getting better.

Fresh on this forum and also my first post.
I read this thread and against all this information I bough Asus DSL-AC88U as I was really impressed with my previous Asus router RT-AC68U.
On 88u the WiFi signal is definitely much better on my pc I gto Asus wifi card which allow for 1.3 Gb/s between pc and modem which is better than previous router where speed wasn’t even constant (same house and same configuration). While I can’t complain about 5 GHz network I have issues with 2.4 Ghz network, I was fighting for last few days and can’t get decent performance on it. Most stuff I turned off already (as suggested in this thread) and still when I do speed test on 2.4 Ghz it’s lot lower than on 5G, any tips on this?
Another thing is that when I switch from bt openreach modem to Asus for some reason I can see a lot of FEC errors at this time when Vdsl connection is up and running for 5 days 8h 30 min I have 7404781 Fec errors which I believe (by reading on different formu may delay positive action taken by DLM). I found a way to reduce these errors but to experiment I need fw with telnet option enabled. I asked Asus about this fw by feedback form through modem but so far after over a week there is no any response from them.
To @sentinel uk
Are you able to source latest fw ( I currently use v1.10.06 build591) with unlocked telnet.
