So the Fiat 500 had no warning lights on the dashboard and no visible exhaust smoke (white or black) was observed when the car cold starts in the  morning and drives away .

Will test again after it rains overnight as water condensation or the known water leak from the wiper  blades  grill could be dripping water onto the air filter  housing and maybe making the air filter damp and causing white smoke.

But good news that no water or oil  is finding its way into the cylinder block over night .

Time to dig out my ODB11 Fault code reader and see if that gives any clues ?
