Alas, not so knowledgeable with HP Severs but do understand your frustration with HP Gen 10 Plus requiring an additional RAID Controller,

For the kit I have used, I always include hardware RAID for performance  – Alas a sales inquiry to HP technical or your own supplier to gain absolute clarity is your safest bet
