I know DDNS has issues with multiple-NAT environment and DDNS service cannot work but sounds like by re registering you are working.

I guess (big guess) is that the first time you configured DDNS you managed to get it working with default name, without any changes etc.

Also as you are now on FTTP, I wonder if the back end routing (BT) has an impact ?
