Thanks, with the NAS I have, there is no need to open the case etc to fit the drive, I simply pull the HD caddy out (for want of a better work) and then slide it back in and that’s it. There is a board at the back which the drive connects to hence making the connection so no cables/connectors to manually connect.
I read that it means bad sectors found and could be signs of the drive starting to fail. As said had this once on my previous NAS (had it for around 6 years) and only changed it as was out of warranty and manufacturer stopped support for it but has been a good unit. Had 1 power issue with it and they simply sent me a replacement to fit myself, easily done. Other than that I’ve had 1 of these errors before on bay 3 and I replaced the drive and all was fine, no further errors. So hence ordered a replacement as suspect error will go away once replaced. I did used to have a spare but I think when I setup second volume as I hadn’t needed to replace any drives, I used it as part of the 2nd volume as also reduced cost of buying the drives as I had 1 already but has left me with no spare to swap out if issues arise.
Again, will be in same boat now one this one arrives and is replaced but can look to get one a bit later as a spare, although maybe they will replace this model with something else.
