Would get much better performance from it, I fear then my 1GB network would be the bottlekneck and I’ve have to see about moving to 10Gbps network but not sure i fancy replacing all my cat5e cables

Could opt to go for a fibre optic house, great little project that would be , as you hint, lots of hassle for something that is overkill and could be expensive.
