Hasn’t been this problem with clicking (probably relais on DSL-output) 1-2 years ago too? We discussed these issues in asus-forum and whirlpool but maybe related to DSL-AC68U. As far as I can remember it was a firmware issue, DSL driver switches between different DSL-types/protocols or something like that or trying to reset line by completely disconnecting some time, only seen on some (for asus logic problematic) lines, not all users had this problem.
The clicking, @Katana1074 said his better half heard the click, the DSL-AC88U used to have the issue when the router would click multiple times and this was resolved as they (ASUS) removed the G.fast option from Auto-Synch settings. If I remember correctly ?
