I believe the PS5 is less efficient in terms of air flow because it uses a larger heat sink to compensate.

PS5 implements an “omnidirectional” cooling arrangement where the Xbox uses a linear approach and air travels in a  straight line through the system and out the top.

Generally, the Xbox is more modular and does use a vapor chamber, and because PS5 design is very involved, I think for PS5 access to CPU etc, is more involved.

The the PS5 uses liquid metal to pass heat from CPU to heatsink. Liquid metal is way more efficient than ordinary thermal paste but can be corrosive on luminum, copper, nickel, and solder.

The Xbox series X uses a more traditional thermal paste and is the one area I wish Microsoft would improve upon
