Yes, I am aware there iPhone are generally supported for 5 years before the stop updates etc.  Not sure if its the same for watches but I’d of thought they may drop it as new ones are getting better and more sensors etc.

Another family member had a iPhone 6 a while back and when they stopped support for that (couldn’t move to new OS and also use some apps) got them a SE phone as doesn’t tend to use the phone that much only maybe for odd text and phone calls, doesn’t really use apps so SE was suitable and cheaper :)  Shame it’s still using lightening connector but oh well, I’m guessing in couple of years will be USB-C when that one drops off support list as I think I got that in 2020 or 2021 can’t remember.
