So had in our Amazon basket a Toolbox which was originally £49 and a Nespresso Milk Frother for £80, yesterday the toolbox was reduced by £15 and the Nespresso Milk Frother was reduced by £10.
Role on Black Friday and this morning when I checked and prices have gone back upto what they were a week ago.
We did have our eye on a couple of other items and did not place them in the basket, but alas no price changes either .
Role on Cyber Monday and these deals you have to grab when you see them and prices do go up as well as down

November 24, 2023 at 9:45 am #28195I had heard rumours that companies increase the price or advertise a discount but there isn’t really one hence why I think ppl been saying some stuff been cheaper other times of the year.
I’ve not purchased anything specifically due to Black Friday so far. I was hoping to get a discount on a membership that has recently expired so have been waiting to see if any discounts but so far, nothing has shown up.

November 24, 2023 at 12:22 pm #28198Like always I believe, you have to grab the bargain when you spot it .
Will be interesting if prices reduce again by Monday, hopefully the supplier will not sell sufficient and be inclined to reduce prices

November 24, 2023 at 8:38 pm #28206No deals on the subscription I wanted to renew, even spoke to them on chat and was advised no deals atm but would be some in the future but no eta on when etc.
Then by sheer luck, I stumbled on a forum where someone had posted a link to a renewal they were offered and it came up with the price they were quoted so I’ve renewed and its gone through – pretty good at 50% discount :)

November 27, 2023 at 8:13 am #28226So interestingly I checked Amazon this morning to see that the Toolbox I was looking at on Friday, in which its priced had increased on Black Friday, the toolbox now has been reduced to its previous lower price.
Amazon or some of there suppliers can be tricky.
I ended up purchasing a different Toolbox on Saturday, from a different supplier as I found another deal, there loss

November 27, 2023 at 7:46 pm #28227Yes, I think its part of the Black Friday deals that are now well known so they hike prices as they show a reduced by x amount or % meaning you think you are getting a deal and buy it, especially when they add a timer and say this price for x hours/days etc, people wont look elsewhere for fear of missing out on the price. Plus also amazon used to be a good place to buy stuff but as with most companies, as they get bigger and bigger I think greed sets in as they know they have thousands of customers and as its a one stop shop for lots of various items, people will pay it so they get you sucked in, especially if your a prime customer as its free delivery next day or on your chosen day so they pull you in with the tv steaming as a additional draw.
Personally, I only order certain things from Amazon, i.e. I don’t order say PC component’s (like CPU, gfx cards, MB etc) as I tend to buy them from a actual computer supplier but I may use amazon for smaller items like keyboard/mouse/heat sink if price is comparable or in stock if needed quickly.
As I discovered about a year ago, CPUs stopped coming with heatsinks, previous PCs I bult CPU always came with stock heatsink so always used that, now they don’t.

November 27, 2023 at 8:34 pm #28228Greed and/or complacency, hopefully others reading this thread will now understand Prices on Amazon on Black Friday go up as well as Down.
Now for my next purchase challenge which is to find an Apple Watch Series 9 that is not a Grey import, but still offer good value

November 27, 2023 at 8:46 pm #28229interesting, I was considering buying one as a present for xmas but as its working out a bit pricey as need to buy a phone also, decided to not bother with the watch for now, maybe get that as a b’day present as I’ve read some people having issues getting the watch to register with new phone etc as apparently instructions say to disassociate it from existing phone but then when you try to pair it with new phone, it asks you to approve it on your existing device which you no long have as you removed it… I’ve only ever bought 1 apple watch (iWatch 6) for family member so only ever set it up straight, never had to “upgrade” the watch and move the data over etc or link it to another device so I’m considering new phone for xmas for family member and then the watch for the b’day which is in 1st quarter of the new year. Current has the smaller (40mm?) iWatch 6 but I see now sizes have gone up a bit so considering the 45mm size now maybe.
I’m surprised iwatch 6 still seems to be supported as was expecting it to be dropped or near dropped by now.

November 27, 2023 at 9:35 pm #28230The Apple Watch Series 9 I am looking at is also for a gift but prices are around £379 so a tad pricey at the moment and I love a deal.
The Apple Watch Series 6 is still only 3 years old so not to bad considering it is an Apple product and they are great value.
I think they have stopped selling/making the Apple Watch Series 6 but still receives updates etc.

November 27, 2023 at 9:56 pm #28231Yes, I am aware there iPhone are generally supported for 5 years before the stop updates etc. Not sure if its the same for watches but I’d of thought they may drop it as new ones are getting better and more sensors etc.
Another family member had a iPhone 6 a while back and when they stopped support for that (couldn’t move to new OS and also use some apps) got them a SE phone as doesn’t tend to use the phone that much only maybe for odd text and phone calls, doesn’t really use apps so SE was suitable and cheaper :) Shame it’s still using lightening connector but oh well, I’m guessing in couple of years will be USB-C when that one drops off support list as I think I got that in 2020 or 2021 can’t remember.

December 1, 2023 at 8:19 am #28279So the Apple Watch Series 9 (GPS) prices have gone back to around £399 for the 41mm from mainstream suppliers.
Will have to see if nearer Xmas the prices reduce again.

December 1, 2023 at 7:39 pm #28285I tend to find Apple prices don’t drop that much, especially for new devices, old ones only tend to drop once newer versions come out.
I guess apple can’t afford to lower the prices

December 1, 2023 at 8:02 pm #28286I did have my eye on an Apple Watch Series 8 as a backup, which is around £100 cheaper, so will have to see what Christmas brings and if there are any offers at Costco
I have seen a few Grey imports for the Apple Watch Series 9, for around £330, but a little risky.

December 2, 2023 at 1:06 pm #28294Yes indeed, I tend to always buy originals especially as they will be holding your personal data i.e. maybe banking apps, authentication apps, receiving sms codes etc so I tend to stick to original items as I don’t want to compromise myself or data for what would then be a insignificant sum compared to any potential breaches or missing money etc :)
Most places are now moving away from SMS verification as they are aware this is no longer considered safe.
I’m still toying with the idea of placing my password manager on my mobile – I have it on my PC but I don’t have it on any mobile device, just not too sure about that tbh.
