As a complete newcomer to this, are there any specific advantages to moving to the custom firmware? Apologies if this question has been answered a thousand times.
I have 4 x XT8βs currently runningΒ 3004.388.8_2-gnuton1.Β I just find it better layout looking at the router stats.
There are a lot more advanced features on GNUton.
If you are not going to use these additional features, best to stay on stock.
With GNUton, FW update is done manually.
Both have been equally stable on latest stock FW and GNUton for me.
If you use the XT8βs on Access Point mode on GNUton, there is a known bug with the Asus GPL:
