Hi getting BT ultrafast 2 FTTP installed on Monday,I thought my DSL-AC88U would work (Would rather not use the BT Super Hub 2 BT sent) but reading this thread im having doubts. Can you folk give me any tips/advice to get it working please.

Welcome @MikeR, The BT Ultra fast services are either FTTP (as you have detailed) or G.fast, which is a service on offer if you are close to street cabinet etc.

G.fast uses a modem such as the one included in the DSL-AC88U, but FTTP (Fibre to the premises) does not need a modem, as BT supply a ONT (Optical Network Termination ) device to which you then plug in your router or use device supplied by BT for wifi etc.

basically, and if I am not mistaken, if you are having the FTTP service, then you do not need the DSL-AC88U, there are much better more suitable units available depending on your requirements ?

If the DSL-AC88U you already have, then the router does come with a WAN port so is usable and will be better that any BT supplied wifi hardware devices (only just)
