Understood, I think try Version 1.1.2.3_473 if this does not work, then we need to look at how you are setting up L2TP
Is there any reason why you prefer L2TP, as this does not offer any encryption and do you only have the VPN Client set up (no VPN server) ?

hello dear , i flashed oldest firmware available in asus website (1.1.2.3_473) and i did factory reset but the rebooting issue is not solved when i use l2tp vpn client .
i setup l2tp vpn client with vpn server address, username and password then activate it . i use it because it is faster and the vpn service i use only support pptp and l2tp protocol.
do you think asus is aware about this issue ?

Which L2TP service do you use ? screen dump with username /password hidden would be good ?

October 1, 2019 at 5:49 pm #4648I agree, something does not seem correct, did you ever have another router and did L2TP VPN work with other router ?

i have another router but it doesn’t support vpn client. as you can see with PPTP protocol it has no issue and modem uptime is more than 15 hours …

October 2, 2019 at 2:03 pm #4655Alas, not had any feedback from ASUS as yet, but given your location, I am wondering whether it is your ISP (CG-NAT) etc.
I have given ASUS all the information, hopefully they will respond ;-)

October 3, 2019 at 7:50 am #4660@kamiboy – I have spoken with ASUS this morning and they say they believe there are no issues with DSL-N16 and L2TP – ASUS have asked if you could do the following via a mobile device (to test)
———–
It seems user is attempting to connect to DE L2TP server, can user set up this VPN account on phone(user phone’s VPN Client instead) and connect to that server through DSL-N16? Perhaps indeed local ISP blocked it.

October 3, 2019 at 4:46 pm #4677October 8, 2019 at 2:14 pm #4732@kamiboy – I have spoken with ASUS and they will look at the VPN (L2TP) issue next week, I am told there is a national holiday at some point this week over in Taiwan.
Could you send feedback again and include in comments box you have spoken with ‘UK Sentinel’ at beginning of text, so they can easily find feedback submission

December 6, 2019 at 5:13 pm #5239I’m facing the exact same issue with DSL-N16 modem. It reboots itself a few minutes after a L2TP VPN client is connected.
I have submitted a new feedback using modem interface.
