We are still awaiting new firmware from ASUS for the MediaTeK devices, hopefully new firmware will have VPN fix
Me too, but a solution to this issue is to use dsl-n16 as a router only i bridge a broadcom modem to it and reboot issue fixed.

Have you tried a factory reset, It would be good to hear from @@kamiboy as they also had issuesΒ ?
Edit: try a wired connection as issue via wifi was original problem ?

See https://uktechhub.com/forums/topic/asus-dsl-n16-issue-with-wifi-show-me-password-is-incorrect/page/2/#post-4997Already tried factory resetting the modem with no luck.
The reboot happens even without any device connected via WiFi. It is only my PC connected to the modem through a Ethernet cable.

Looks like next firmware release should fix issues, alas no idea when this will be.

Yes, I have tried factory resetting with no luck.
The reboot also happens when no device is connected with WiFi, it is only my PC connected to the modem via Ethernet cable.
It seems that we should wait a few months for ASUS to fix this in the next firmware update.

December 15, 2019 at 11:09 pm #5470try this :
1.turn off your wireless radio and connect the modem to pc via Ethernet cable
2.activate l2tp vpn connection
you should not have issue after turning off wireless radio or maybe it will occurs only once . after first reboot you should not have any issues and second reboot will not occur .
