Came across this article, urgent update for a raft of asus routers
ASUS Urges Customers To Patch Critical Router Vulnerabilities – Slashdot
Models: GT6, GT-AXE16000, GT-AX11000 PRO, GT-AX6000, GT-AX11000, GS-AX5400, GS-AX3000, XT9, XT8, XT8 V2, RT-AX86U PRO, RT-AX86U, RT-AX86S, RT-AX82U, RT-AX58U, RT-AX3000, TUF-AX6000, and TUF-AX5400.
Surprised the DSL-AX82U is not on that list, it uses the same software as the RT-AX82U and is already quite far behind?

June 21, 2023 at 11:48 am #25271Thanks for the post and good to share that ASUS routers are/have received a few much needed security updates.
Please note, some of these security updates have already been addressed by ASUS at the back end of last year but good to check and make sure your firmware is as upto date as possible.
I will touch base with ASUS regarding DSL-AX82U, just to make sure non of the CVE’s ‘ CVE-2018-1160’ are relevant to the DSL-AX82U.

June 21, 2023 at 3:14 pm #25274Nice one. I had a look through the CVEs on the asus advisory site and some of them appeared to be resolved in prior updates and some not (the 2023 ones in particular). Would be good to know hopefully that the dsl router isn’t abandoned for updates, it seems to miss a fair few compared to it’s sister device the RT.

June 21, 2023 at 4:18 pm #25277RT always seem to be more proactive with updates compared to DSL, ASUS have come back and said the following for the DSL-AX82U:
“Yes indeed, also impacted”.
I have asked ASUS to update the below link to include the DSL-AX82U and they are working on updates

July 11, 2023 at 11:41 am #25755Did asus provide an indication when they would release the patches? bit worrying they made such a big thing about updating all the routers for the vulnerabilities but the DSL seems quite left behind

July 11, 2023 at 9:36 pm #25767Last week was the eta, but that never happened, ASUS have started to release new updates for the RT-AC86U etc, so hopefully soon.
If nothing by early next week, I will chase again

July 17, 2023 at 6:48 am #25845So I have chased ASUS for progress on the DSL-AX82U firmware this morning, ASUS have said they have found a couple of bugs which they are working to resolve currently.
Alas no timescales but at least they are testing
