I’ve decided to go back to the DSL-AX82U. It’s currently on offer for £179.99.
I don’t think the all in one solution and wireless range can be beat if you have FTTC or slower.
Does make life simpler and the DSL stats you can see are always handy

September 24, 2023 at 7:07 pm #27103Decided to put in the DSL-AX82U last night. Found a potential loophole for speeds. My BT limits are:
I know for a fact that my upload was capped around 10 as I did alot the past few months. That was on a Billion 8800NL modem and eero setup.
The Asus DSL seems to just ignore this limit for some reason. I’m getting about 50 Mbps download and 18 Mbps upload now even with cake configured.

September 24, 2023 at 8:02 pm #27108Lucky you, Your Data Rate and Max Rate seem to suggest your are the BT Fibre 2 package.
When you used the Billion 8800NL modem and eero setup, don’t suppose you have any saved DSL stats from the Billion Modem ?
Enter your details here and post results if you can and if you check MYBT, what package does it show is your current package ?

September 24, 2023 at 10:47 pm #27109I’m so confused what they have done. My package does say Fibre 2 but then my upload was always 10 Mbps before. The billion is a totally dumb modem so you can’t access anything in modem mode.
I think maybe they haven’t changed anything but since my Billion has been connected for literally months it’s never resynced at the higher rate. I might plug it in later to see but for now I’m relatively happy.
I have also set up a BQM just to see.
The red is when I flashed merlin and configured cake. See if it helps with spikes.

September 25, 2023 at 5:37 am #27111You above stats does seem to support that you are on BT Fibre 2.
Billion are usually good little units and work well, but glad the ASUS DSL-AX82U is giving you the Synch rate/speeds you are paying for
Plugging back in the Billion at some point would be interesting to see what stats are reported .

September 28, 2023 at 5:06 am #27150Must have just been a sync problem I put the Billion back in and I’m getting the same upload now. Kind of wish I had an outage so it resynched higher but oh well.

September 28, 2023 at 6:56 am #27151Always the way, at least we now know the ASUS DSL-AX82U is working as it should at not ignoring synch limits

November 28, 2023 at 12:20 pm #28237What happened to ASUS DSL-AX82U support website ??? https://www.asus.com/networking-iot-servers/modem-routers/all-series/dsl-ax82u/helpdesk_bios/?model2Name=DSL-AX82U
it’s been for a week, it’s not existing at all
The same with DSL-AC68VG Modem Router with no updates for years and no website or info exists at all.
https://www.asus.com/au/supportonly/dsl-ac68vg/helpdesk_bios/?model2Name=DSL-AC68VG
Or is it a usual manner from Asus, max 2 years to support Modem models and then drpop it with no updates whatsoever, it’s very disgusting from them.

November 28, 2023 at 12:58 pm #28239For the DSL-AX82U it is not End of Life (EoL).
The DSL-AC68VG is EoL and is like the DSL-AC88U which was not a success for ASUS
When I go to the ASUS support site I get the below, so assume they are updating website etc.
I will touch base with ASUS if you like to see when it will be working again ?

November 29, 2023 at 6:50 am #28259So ASUS have come back to me and confirmed the site is being updated and downloads for the DSL-AX82U should be back online in the next day or two.
I was also told that the location of the DSL models was moving but the massage did not make sense so will have to see what if anything changes with regards to firmware download locations for the DSL-AX82U ?

December 1, 2023 at 6:58 am #28277I checked this morning and the ‘Support’ tab option is back for https://www.asus.com/networking-iot-servers/modem-routers/all-series/dsl-ax82u/ for the DSL-AX82U
But not yet showing for https://www.asus.com/uk/networking-iot-servers/modem-routers/all-series/dsl-ax82u/
Hopefully just a dB replication / mirroring delay

May 7, 2024 at 9:18 am #32134Is this router still supported or is it EOL now? 9 months seems a long time without even security patches for an internet connected device

May 7, 2024 at 10:23 am #32137I will chase ASUS for any update news, but the DSL-AX82U is not EoL. A good couple of years in my opinion.
