Sounds encouraging??  Hopefully this can be implemented with an update.  What a game changer that will be if it’s possible.  The wireless range would be amazing around my flat.  Currently get highest 620Mbps standing next to the furthest away node.  This is on a 1Gb Hyperoptic connection.

I have managed to source 2 pack Asus BQ16 for £750-£800 from the same guy.

It looks like he was selling liquidation stock and ex-display items.

Thinking about selling the BT10’s for a small profit and getting the BQ16.  Not sure if it’s a good idea.  It does give greater upgrade potential in the future.

Why would you need longer potential in future, you change your equipment every 2 years as it looks like.

I am looking at buying a bigger house.  Currently in the flat 2 BQ16 will suffice with the brick walls and Wi-Fi interference.  I can add a third when I move into a bigger house.

Your BT10’s was a great deal, the 2x BQ16 you can purchase from Box.co.uk for £999 so less of a bargain.

    BT10 EoL is 4 years (until 31st December 2028)

    BQ16 EoL is 4 years (until 31st December 2026)

    FWIW:

    • BT means BE Tri-band
    • BQ means BE  Quad-band

BQ16 is not worth the change if ASUS Duration of Security Update Support (only for UK) is correct ?

If you mean the BQ16 Pro then this is slightly different as the BQ16 has 2x 6GHz bands and the BQ16 has 1x 6GHz and 2x 5GHz bands only.

I will ask him if I can test it and then make a decision on buying.

I don’t think all the 6GHz channels on BQ16 Pro are supported in the UK?

BQ16 (non-pro) was released in 2024, 4 years support should mean 2028?  Or is it just 2 years support on it?  If so, that would be a real real bummer.

In theory 4 years but if the ASUS Duration of Security Update Support (only for UK) document is correct it does state 2026 (December) so a gamble

I have one of my smart devices on the BT10 lose connection on the 2.4GHz and my smart TV needs 5GHz channels 48 and below to connect at 5GHz.  When I set 5GHz channel 48, the MLO connection goes from GREAT to OK, maybe because all those lower channels are congested.

I will test to see if that can be resolved on the BQ16 as it has 2 5GHz?

2 years support will really be horrific though for such a premium priced product.

Interesting i checked the asus site to see if there was any new firmware for the bt10. There was one listed for 28/04 but it was still the old firmware from a few months back. I wonder why the date updated and if they actually have a new one on the way.

Interesting, does seem like ASUS have re-released (updated) the older firmware from February as it has a very slight file size change and different checksum.

Also seems like all previous releases are now not available for download, maybe a bug in previous releases also.

Got to love those ASUS guys and girls for their CC

Is it possible to ask them what changed with that one if the size and checksum is different? Doesn’t show up as available in the web client probably due to same version no. Wondering if it’s worth updating to that one manually if something changed. Or if there’s a new ver coming?

Asus seem to have also removed all previous FW for BQ16 too and only left the previous 2 online.  They must be doing some sort of purging of older FW versions.
