Hi all,
So on my AX86U in the client view where I can see all my clients connected and see IP, mac address etc, it is showing a device which has been assigned a new IP about 2 weeks or so ago now and it is still showing in the list with both the new IP address and the old IP address (2 entries). Is there a way I can remove the incorrect version without rebooting the router? I’ve had a look and don’t see anything. The device is the Net gear AP i bought a couple of weeks ago, I left it on DHCP initially to get it onto my network and then I later assigned it a static IP and now it shows 2 entries for DHCP (need to remove) and the static one.
Thanks
Kev

February 11, 2023 at 4:27 pm #22747One of ASUS ‘ASUSWRT’ features, the ability to remove offline clients has been a hassle for years and apart from rebooting, which does not always work, only way is to run scripts or edit certain system files etc.
I will drop ASUS a message and ask
BTW: what firmware version are you currently running. ?

February 11, 2023 at 4:32 pm #22748Hi,
Thanks, I’m running: 3.0.0.4.386_46061
Due to various issues reported on newer versions, I’ve stuck to this one so far :)

February 11, 2023 at 4:59 pm #22749Are you using the APP, I ask as there is an option via the app, but I believe it is buggy when I last read about it online ?
I believe there is a default max of 200 before older ‘offline clients’ start to be removed, but still not ideal.
FWIW: Below is not your particular issue but an interesting issue with iOS and Android using MAC Address Randomization

February 11, 2023 at 5:35 pm #22750Can you screen dump the Netgear WAX204 as it appears in the Client View, if you only obfuscate the last part of Mac address etc, this will make my conversation with ASUS easier

February 11, 2023 at 5:36 pm #22751Thanks, no I’m using web browser on a PC. All other devices are showing ok, occasionally my phone etc may show mac address and no name due to randomised mac address but most of the time it remains fixed on what it is so that’s all good.
This issue has arose simply as I plugged in either the new AP or switch I bought recently and left it on DHCP and then set it to a static IP but it has retained the DHCP address and also added a entry for the static IP address so just wondered if a way to remove it rather than reboot the router.
Thanks
Kev

February 11, 2023 at 9:52 pm #22759February 11, 2023 at 9:59 pm #22762I have just seen though that the MAC address is identical apart from the last letter…. one is a 8 and the other is a 9 but the rest is the same.
However – this is where it gets weird….
so as shown above from the pics..
.108 = has mac address ending in a 8
.198 has mac address ending in a 9.
BUT when I check the AP, the .198 is the LAN address of the AP and the mac address ends in a 8! So where is the one ending in a 9? I cannot find it anywhere on any page of the netgear AP…. and no reply from .108 when ping or try access via browser… Maybe it has added 1 to the number as it knows its a duplicate mac address?

I did wonder if something weird was going on, is it possible to power off the Netgear WAX204 for a day and then check to see if any reference to any of the 2x Netgear WAX204 remains ?

February 12, 2023 at 1:14 pm #22767Hi,
Unable to turn it off for a day as I have a device that is connected to wifi and I access it remotely each day :(
Worse case I guess I reboot the router and hope it looses it but wish was a option to remove/release the IP..

I have asked the question, so will let you know if ASUS respond.

February 13, 2023 at 3:32 pm #22771Ok, so spoke with ASUS and there does not seem to be a way of manually removing offline Clients without a reboot, ‘unless you edit certain files etc’.
ASUS did say,
————-
when you click “View List” in “Network Map”, it will rescan LAN/Wifi devices .
————-
I have asked ASUS to consider adding the option to allow owners the ability to remove Offline Clients in the future as this must also effect the ability to block offline clients as they are not easily viewable ?
We remain hopeful
