I was only interested in a G.Fast modem as future proofing, no G.Fast available here at present but was in the market for a new modem so thought I’d look at what was available. All the suppliers on the Chinese trading platforms are time wasters.

I’m not going to hold my breath for 5G as 4G is barely available here and certainly doesn’t get the crazy speeds some people talk about.

Silly money due to Unicorn status.

750 employees and 500M€ sales founded 1986, most selled modem in Germany and what I know often used in Austria, Italy, Belgium and Netherlands – they develop on their own in EU.

Huge benefit if you would like to use DECT phones they are connected directly to router.

    Zen-UK uses a 7530 modem: https://www.zen.co.uk/business/small-business/products-solutions/network-connectivity/broadband/routers

Unicorn status = $1 billion dollars market value.

dont know any market value, 500M are their sales a year, not too bad for a very specialized company.

Indeed, I love my Fritz!Box 3490, but all these G.fast options are not cost effective for average user

Private company so market cap academic, but if they can sell something that costs a few euros for a few hundred euros then it would be well received in the markets.

I know you can code, I am good with a soldering iron and I will plug back in my 3D printer ;-)

    very OT!

same like me, old fashioned electronics ;-)

But still using this art to upgrade things, very hard today to find soldering points with decent voltage levels in a car radio to automatically turn it on and change to AUX if a phone call arrives and the radio got only a mono phone-in and mute pin. But after long search found them and with opto-MOSFET I switch the buttons like it would be manually. And connected free backside pins to front AUX-plug to connect to it invisible and with good quality.

I checked with ASUS and it appears that when the next firmware is released for the DSL-AC88U this will still not support VLAN ID’s whilst in Bridge Mode.

I am still arguing the case behind the scenes but am struggling.

    • New Here

ah thanks for checking…even my BT smart hub 2 stopped working now and they’re useless at fixing anything (new smart hub didnt work and have to wait a week for an engineer), have to have them listen to a phone call I had on Saturday to have them believe the guy told me my 14 day cooling off period resets and I can cancel, Virgin broadband time I think!

    Cheers
