More a question for @Grisu as this has been commented upon a few times, other Forum members opinions most welcomed also

until now, when a forum member subscribes to a Topic or Forum, every time a new Reply is posted on that Topic or Reply, everybody whom has subscribed to that Topic or Forum, they receive an email notification alerting them to that new Reply, if more replies are then added to Topic or Forum, more email alerts/notifications are sent to subscribed forum members.
It has been suggested correctly so, that this can create lots of emails in Forum members inbox,ย if an alternative can be sought to reduce emails to forum members inbox, this would be of benefit.
So I have found a potential resolution which may help to resolve this scenario, given the limitations of the Forum applications available.

So, With the option I am looking at, forum users can choose to have one daily, weekly, or monthly notifications with a list of all notifications detailing new posts and replies. They can also choose to keep receiving the notification instantly as well as getting a daily, weekly or monthly notifications.
These parameters are configurable from within your Forum profile, so you can set the notifications to your personal preferences.

The only negative I can see with this option, is that Daily notifications are not configurable from a time perspective, the Application decides when notifications are sent, not forum member and notifications are sent regardless of how many occasions a forum member logs into Forum, (independent process).
I have to purchase this option, so as yet have not tested, but I am sure it should work as described if implemented.

May 16, 2024 at 1:59 pm #32223I personally prefer a notification on each subcribed topic/reply.
What I miss is an option, to stop further notifications to the very SAME thread/topic.
If there are 10 replies on one thread there should go only one mail for the first reply, the others are senseless spam, as I will see them anyway when I open this thread.
Daily or even longer are not needed, as if interested I open the forum regularly (or when I have time to see them), otherwise I’m not interested anymore.

Understood and I thought you might think along those lines which is practical, especially for forum membersย whom visit many times during a day, for some forum members, a daily notification could be useful for them, for others forum members a daily notification may not be useful.
I will keep looking for new options to achieve something similar that tries to achieve a happy balanceย

August 1, 2024 at 6:16 pm #32977@Grisu, I have been speaking with a developer regarding the option to , alerts users (only once) of a new reply or replies to a thread they’re watching only if they’ve viewed the thread since the last alert
I had another developer lined up, but they have since pulled out.
Anyway, this new developer has asked a simply question, what happens if your forum supports ‘Reply by Email option’ this in essence is the ability to reply to posts by email rather than logging into forum and adding text etc.
This is not an option I have currently enabled on this Forum, but it is an option and I wondered if this is something you have seen on other forums you belong to.
The ‘Reply by Email option’ does make it interesting if the ‘alerts users (only once) of a new reply or replies to a thread they’re watching only if they’ve viewed the thread since the last alert’ option is enabled’.
I have a possible solution, but thought I would see what happens on other forums etc. from your perspective.

August 2, 2024 at 7:30 am #32983Dont know any forum where you could reply directly from email – I think this would even be a security risc.
Even the anwser could be edited or deleted in the meantime and so my reply would not cover these changes.Only our local online-bazar (like ebay) has this option, but as said I know this option only from online-marketplace platforms.

August 2, 2024 at 8:44 am #32986This was my thoughts also, for slower (private) forums (not UKTechHub) the ‘Reply by Email optionโ maybe of benefit, but for forums like mine, this would mean forum members do not visit site directly which could effect revenue generation (ads), visitor statistics and searches so impacting Google Ranking etc.
