January 30, 2021 at 4:14 pm #11744I am trying the new XR500 V2.3.2.108 Open Beta for my XR500 and must say it is working rather well.
Below is the new Ping HeatMap showing the CSGO servers and there associated ping distance and good to see we have a CS:Go server in UK
A newcomer in DumaOS 3.0, Ping Heatmap changes the way you play your favourite online games. With Ping Heatmap, DumaOS pings every server for your game of choice and visualises your latency to each one – in short, you’ll see which servers give you the smoothest gameplay. The heatmap is continually updated with the most recent games, so you can still have the advantage on brand new releases.
Tests can be scheduled to keep track of your best servers over time – providing you with the knowledge to always pick the best server for your game. To really stay at an advantage, you can apply your results to your Geo-Filter selections, ensuring you always have the optimal connection.

January 31, 2021 at 8:17 am #11759Just tried the new DumaOS Traffic Controller and loving the interface and options, it as great to see at long last a Netgear Gaming router with usable Parental controls that include both time limiting options as well as Content control in the form of Categories (Games/ Streaming) and Applications which are Game Specific (Call of Duty / Battlefield) etc.
Monday Is also available and a few UI issues (but it is a beta),

September 9, 2021 at 9:16 am #15087So I have been waiting a while (
) for a new update on the Netgear XR500 as the last update (Version 2.3.2.120) back in March is still the most recent release.
Alas reading on the Netduma Forums and community.netgear.com, lots of concerns around stability, QoS and disconnects. so as there is still no indication when any new firmware will be released, I thought I would share my set-up which does seems to last a few weeks before I decide to give the XR500 a reboot.
XR500 Stability settings:
Long story short, many months ago, I realised (as others have) DHCP and QOS was still an issue on the XR500 – (Version 2.3.2.120) so have tested a few options over the months and this seems to work for us at home.
Duma QoS:
- Congestion Control I have set to Always
- Congestion Control I have set to 90% f my Download Sych rate and 85% of my Upload synch rate, this helps with buffer bloat and I score A to A+ via DSLReports.com
- Disable QoS if at all possible or use change QoS priority from Device to Application, and this seems to work much better.
Under LAN Settings:
- Use Router as DHCP Server and set Starting IP Address to 50 or 100
- note:Then Address Reservation add all devices connected to XR500 router a manually assigned IP address lower than 50.
From my set-up, I have double NAT-ed our ASUS RT-AC86U wireless router as this can then handle all wifi clients and save issues with additional QoS – DHCP clients on the XR500. I have set a bandwidth limit of 50 Mbps on the ASUS RT-AC86U to limit bandwidth used by wifi clients etc.
Note: I have Disable Wireless radios on my XR500

October 8, 2021 at 10:30 am #15726I have still found even with IP addresses manually assigned (reserved) via Router – on occasions a disconnect occurs and we receive a message in event logs as below:
—–
[DumaOS] DHCP lease change., Friday, October 08, 2021 09:33:37
[DumaOS] DHCP new event., Friday, October 08, 2021 09:33:37
[DHCP IP: 192.168.1.12] to MAC address 4c:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, Friday, October 08, 2021 09:33:37
[DumaOS] DHCP new lease allocated., Friday, October 08, 2021 09:17:08—–
So now ‘Use Router as DHCP server’ tick box is unchecked and each device is manually configured an IP address etc. on there respective NIC’s.

October 12, 2021 at 6:41 am #15773Glad to say that assigning each individual NIC’s a dedicated IP address on the device itself (rather than via XR500) seems to have cured the random disconnections.
