    Had an email from Octopus Energy and looks like they are once again offering fixed price tariffs

    —–

    Good to know:

    We’re offering fixed price tariffs again, for our loyal customers only. The prices we can offer change regularly, sometimes daily, based on the latest wholesale costs — our prices are currently some of the best fixed prices available, and worth considering if you’d like certainty.

    My Gas Details as below:

    Scary how much cheaper my Gas and Electric is currently via Tracker compared with the Fixed rate – but unsure of price fluctuations over winter 2023 – 24 ?

    So good rates on the tracker, I fixed mine with my supplier back in June when the fixed rate was about 1% cheaper than the current variable rate and was deemed at the time a good deal and worth considering so I decided to go for the 1 year fix as wasn’t sure if prices would/wouldn’t come down or not.  Looks like they are but are also rumoured by some to go up a bit in Jan so not sure but either way, its cheaper than I was paying and even with the cheaper prices, I’m not sure I’d save £150 to make it worth me paying £150 to get out of my contract so will stick with it for a year and fingers crossed prices are better next year.

    the rates are interesting, @dodgydrains when you have time, can you share your fixed rate ‘unit rates’ so I can see for comparison.

    @UKSentinel, are you with Octopus?  I am currently with Ovo Energy and looking to move back to Octopus as I got my £50 bill credit last week for moving to Ovo from Octopus few months ago.  Do Octopus still do the £50 referral also?  If so, are you able to send me a referral?

    I looked on octopus site and didn’t see the 20p elec tarrif, was that just for existing customers or loyal customers or has it just simply been pulled now?

    Think my parents tariff maybe up or up soon so was going to take a look around and see what’s around and what there existing supplier is offering also.

    @dodgydrains – Octopus are still offering the £100 (£50 each) ‘Refer your friends’ I will send you the link via email if that is Ok

    @kev2021
    – The offer for Fixed Price is for loyal customers only, I am also on duel fuel so unsure if that met their criteria also ?

    Whats you current  ‘unit rates’ as I am interested if staying on the tracker is wise for myself .

    So just had a look at my Gas and Electric costing currently, glad to see that since August, my Unit Electric prices have dropped again, but Gas has increased slightly per unit cost.

    This is not ideal, according to Sky news, UK wholesale gas prices have risen again and are now at their highest level since mid-February.

    Prices rose to nearly 135 pence a therm on Friday due to various external factors, so will have to keep an eye on this over the next couple of weeks but luckily gas central heating is not on yet
