Just noticed I not updated this thread…
So since that happening the next day was ok on existing cable, got the new cable, fitted it and not had the problem at all since, it’s been fine so not entirely sure what was causing it but fingers crossed remains ok.

December 29, 2024 at 12:08 pm #35208Hi, wanted a smallish TV for the kitchen which had Freely. Spoke to our local TV shop and they said that the 24″ Panasonic TV-24S50AEY Fire TV had Freely, so I ordered one. Just installed it and all OK except I can’t see Freely, only Freeview Play. Can anyone tell me if I can get Freely on this TV and what I have to do.
Many thanks, Tony.

December 29, 2024 at 12:39 pm #35209Not sure about Freely, according to this guide, your TV isn’t listed..
It also says press button on remote to activate/use? I don’t have it on mine.
Looking up for your TV:-
https://store.panasonic.co.uk/24-inch-s50-led-hd-smart-tv-with-fire-tv-tv-24s50aey
Under specification it says freeview play/freely and it only says freeview play which would suggest your TV doesn’t have freely, assuming you are based in UK. I’ve attach pic from the spec page.

December 29, 2024 at 1:55 pm #35214I just had a look and also think that only freeview play is available with you Panasonic TV-24S50AEY by default
https://store.panasonic.co.uk/
Not sure if the Freely app can be installed but I did read that a recent Freely announcement in that that its streaming app will actually replace the Freeview Play service fir some newer Panasonic models.
Maybe worth trying to update your Panasonic TV incase any new apps are available ?

December 29, 2024 at 2:04 pm #35216Thanks guys. I saw that list from Panasonic so that’s why I spoke to our local dealer about the 24″ and he said they had one in shop and it did have Freely. I’ll pop down to our Dealer tomorrow when they’re open and ask him to show me their 24″ in the shop. He’d better hope he didn’t give me duff info ! I’ll post back tomorrow when I’ve seen him. Reason I wanted Freely is that the Freeview reception over Christmas period has been rubbish so wanted a straight forward Internet option for C1, C2, C3, C4 & C5. Cheers.

December 29, 2024 at 9:04 pm #35220December 30, 2024 at 11:04 am #35222Yes, C1 is BBC1, C2 is BBC2, C3 is ITV1 etc for terrestial channels.
Went to speak with our Panasonic dealer earlier about the Freely situation and his response is that it’s still very early days and updates to install Freely on suitable Fire TV’s is happening fairly randomly ! If you have one of the qualified Fire TV’s, Freely will be installed either on Factory Reset or part of the routine system updates when in Standby mode.
I will wait and see and live with Freeview Play for the time being.
I think its still very early days for Freely so probably better to wait until it’s been around a bit longer.
Cheers.

Thanks for letting us know and no quick fix for Freely is not ideal for yourself.
Hopefully the updates will be in early January
