RT-AX86S Firmware version

Hi,

Could anyone advise if the latest firmware Version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 is compatible with the RT-AX86S router? it implies it is but when doing a check for update, it says the 3.0.0.4.386.45934 is the latest version.

Why dont you have a look at Asus DL-page?

Hi,

I did but when I clicked the Check button to check for firmware updates on the RT-AX86S it said it was running the latest version, however, it was not 46061, it is running 45934.

I tried to manually update it but it said it failed so I thought maybe it’s failed as it isn’t for the RT-AX86S only the RT-AX86U so thought I’d ask here to see if anyone else has come across this.

So there might be something wrong with it, either bad download (download again or check checksum) or failure on their side.

Version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 seems to be suitable for your RT-AX86S and was released ages ago, so if there was any issues – I would have thought they would have sorted it by now.

I will make some inquires as it is probable only suitable for RT-AX86U

If manual update fails again, even after you have rebooted router, can you send feedback form with ‘UK Sentinel’ in comments box, so I can get them to chase feedback.

ok, just odd router firmware check says its UpToDate which implies 46061 isn’t compatible/for it..

As an update. I did speak with ASUS regarding the RT-AX86S and firmware update.

ASUS have suspended Live update for now as they have found some issues, but they believe that firmware Version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 is able to be manually updated (they did a manual trial themselves)

Many thanks, I tried to do it remotely and it failed so I’m waiting till I have some more time to do it when I’m on the local lan and see if it works.

Doing it remotely it failed very soon after starting to upload.

At least this explains why the check firmware says its up to date and not prompt with the latest version :)

I’ll let you know when i can get back to this, likely be end of the month due to work and also looking at some other issues i have atm :)

Hi all,

Managed to get the firmware installed, appears it didn’t like doing it remotely so all good.

Noticed no further firmware releases since Jan, has Asus stopped supporting/creating firmware for the rt-ax86U/86S?  It is to be replaced by a new router? Last year was a new firmware every couple of months or so.

Seems the RT-AX86U maybe missing firmware release – Version 3.0.0.4.386.48664, or simular ?

So ASUS have come back and said next firmware for RT-AX86U/S is Mid July, the firmware has been delayed   (I won’t bore you with the details)

Update: now changed as of today, It is good what a prompt can do
