Hi,
Since I’ve now updated, i not see the ports at the bottom of the status page (my previous firmware never had this and not sure what version it was introduced but mine was running a version over a year old.
So for me it shows LAN 4 in Yellow box and below it says “Notice” on the Legend. Click on the info it says this port can be improved by changing cable etc etc.
Now, unfortunately it doesn’t give me a MAC address or IP address to help me identify what is plugged into Port 4 on the router. Looking at the Client list, also doesn’t indicate a number next to the LAN ports so I can tell this is plugged into port 4.
So only way is for me to physically go and look and trace the cable to find out what it is. Anyone have any other way of identifying?
Thanks
Kev

May 21, 2023 at 2:16 pm #24601Does going to System Log > Routing Table help as this does show Iface which you can then map to the same ports you defined on another post ?
i.e.
1 = WAN
2 = 2.5G
3 = Port 2
4 = Port 3
5 = Port 4
6 = 2.4ghz WIFI
7 = 5ghz WIFIIn a completely sane world, madness is the only freedom (J.G.Ballard).

May 21, 2023 at 3:03 pm #24603Hi,
I did check here but sadly no, it only shows pppo, eth0, br0,br1 – thats all basically. No other eth ports :(

May 21, 2023 at 3:04 pm #24604Also, I’m not sure if this has always been the same, I’m sure it wasn’t before but when I go to the Ip of my router, the URL changes to asusrouter.com…..
Don’t recall seeing that before… it not a big issue as I can login and do what i need to, just wondered why it doesn’t stay on the IP.

Apart from trolling through the system log, I cannot see a way to determine (via UI) which device is connected to a specific LAN port with these newer 388 builds.
Interesting question though and I could run that via ASUS to see if they can re-add this option

May 21, 2023 at 8:33 pm #24608Thanks. When you hover over the port it says the speed, would be handy if it said the IP or MAC address.
Be nice if they added some new icons too :) Still not seeing a switch one or a VOIP one, was hoping they would add but no big issue.
FYI – weirdly, the Netgear AP I use that’s out of range of the main AX86U, has suddenly now showing what appears to be a image (white background and the Nighthawk type picture), no idea where it got that from lol. But handy to distinguish it :)

I will chat with ASUS and feed back any thoughts they might have, I am sure if they have removed that option it is for a reason, just need to understand why and hopefully re-add

May 21, 2023 at 9:26 pm #24611May 22, 2023 at 8:09 am #24613So ASUS have come back and said, they think there was never the option to identify the IP or MaC address of device connecting to an individual/specific LAN Port.
But ASUS will consider this option going forward
