Samsung has begun rolling out a new cross-platform file sharing feature that allows Galaxy devices to send files directly to Apple devices, marking a significant step toward improved compatibility between Android and iOS ecosystems.
The feature, integrated into Samsungâs Quick Share system, started rolling out on March 23, 2026, initially for the latest Galaxy S26 series. It enables users to transfer photos, videos, and other files directly to nearby iPhones, iPads, and Macs without the need for third-party apps or cloud services.
The technology works in a similar way to Appleâs AirDrop, using a combination of Bluetooth for device discovery and Wi-Fi Direct for fast local file transfers. To use the feature, both devices must have sharing visibility enabled, typically requiring Apple devices to be set to âEveryoneâ mode in AirDrop settings.
This development follows earlier groundwork laid by Google in late 2025, when limited cross-platform sharing compatibility was first introduced on Pixel devices. Samsungâs adoption now brings the functionality to a wider audience and signals a broader shift toward interoperability between competing mobile platforms.
