More than 90,000 people (UK) will be paid a share of £193 million after car giant Volkswagen agreed to settle a court case over the “dieselgate” emissions scandal. The car owners took action after it emerged that the carmaker had fitted unlawful cheat devices to vehicles to avoid strict pollution targets.
It was claimed in UK court that the owners of the cars which included VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda discovered the carmaker had “cheated” European emissions standards, which were designed “to save lives”, by installing unlawful “defeat devices” in its diesel vehicles. This had meant that rather than providing environmentally friendly emissions the vehicles were emitting up to 40 times the legal limit of nitrogen dioxide when out on the road..

Luckily I have never owned a diesel vehicle manufactured by the VW group, but I do wonder how/if other VW vehicle (group) owners whom where not part of this original prosecuting group will be able to claim , as they have been misled also ?
