Thanks – There is no bridge mode on the Plusnet router that I can find.
Yes, ASUS has rich functionality (but is not as stable) that enables me to have a separate IoT network. I had problems with a WeatherFlow Tempest device needing a 2.4GHz network as it did not work on the main SSID and decided I needed a the capability to run a separate network.
I run the backhaul network over PowerLine due to the problems in the past running it on 5GHz-2.
As it now works on the latest firmware, I will leave it as it is. Working on WPA2 is acceptable.
Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks, The configuration used is
WWW > Plusnet Router (Wifi Disabled) > XT8 router > 2 x XT8 mesh nodes
Screen shots of the config attached. The main network has most of the connections with two devices connected to a 2.4GHz SSID for IoT devices that cause problems. The smartplug needed the Mesh disabled which is fine given the location/bandwidth of the devices that do not move.
The devices I bought were from here but there are plenty of other smart plugs using the same Tasmota software on UP111 hardware. It would be good if owners of smarrt devices didn’t have to debug this problem with the Asus devices.

I changed a Guest network to Router only on the web interface and it worked.
So the settings for the 2.4GHz guest network are:
- Authentication Method: WPA2/WPA3-PersonalΒ (WPA3 only does not work)
- Access Intranet: Enable
- Guest network on AIMesh: Router only
