Under ‘Management’ – ‘Preferable Uplink AP’ have you tried manually selecting the nearest node?

I have done this myself and tried to make sure that no more than one node is connected to any one of them.

Pretty sure there is some firmware bug somewhere, also ‘Optimization’ is also pretty useless function.
