The Glass Digitizer screen can be replaced only if the Glass Digitizer screen is cracked / damaged, if the damage has also occurred on the LCD panel, then both the LCD panel and Glass Digitizer screen has to be replaced.
I have checked my Glass Digitizer screen and used the following guides to determine if OLED / LED panel is also damaged.
- look at screen and see if all visible crack lines can be felt on the glass panel, this will indicate that only glass screen (digitizer) is damaged and LED Panel is OK.
- LED panel still has 100 screen viability, no black spots or image distortion .
- Lack of touch sensitivity.
Alas, only by removing the Glass Digitizer screen will you know for sure, but a small crack in the corner of the screen after dropping the iPhone, which has then cracked across the screen is more likely to be Glass Digitizer screen damage only.
In a completely sane world, madness is the only freedom (J.G.Ballard).
