the BT smarthub was 192.168.1.254 so I setup the ASUS on same IP to avoid changing other devices, was simplest solution :) Kev

That makes sense,

does the LAN DHCP Server scope (IP Pool Ending Address) exclude 254 ?

If time was no issue, I would change 192.168.1.254  back to .1
