Ok, so I spoke with ASUS and I now know why ASUS has configured wifi scheduler / WPS button the way they have. This does seem to be a good compromise as the WPS button can be used as a Physical wifi scheduler override if ever needed for convenience.

Example ASUS gave as below:

For example, at 1:00 ~ 8:00, it will be disabled by scheduler.

At 0:00, user disable wifi by button. At 7:00, user re-enable wifi by button.

If wifi scheduler is re-enabled, it will be disabled again by scheduler.

User will need to modify the router setting to turn on the wifi radio.

It is not convenient.
