So as a follow up, my Car Insurance renewal (Aviva) has just arrived in my inbox and only slightly increased in price compared to last year.

Last Year:  £244

New Quote: £275

So a 12% increase

I had a online search saved from last week from Compare the Market and best offer was £320

Sticking with my new Aviva Car Insurance quote for another 12 months I am
