The Netgear D7000 v1 also has the Broadcom (63138) chipset and had real issues, Netgear D7000 v2Β introducedΒ the Intel (Lantiq) VRX318. for DSL
I assume under the deal they have with Broadcom, they are allowed so many changes, or have to pay for changes to firmware blobs, so I guess this is why (maybe) the releases are slower with this chipset ?.
But yes, they should do much better, even if it was just updates to security/vulnerabilities etc.
