Agree with @Uk Sentinel, even you get different modem with broadcom chipset is not guarantee any better than you got now. Dsl-ac88u have really good chipset for Vdsl connection, but only that. On my line modem with lantiq chipset sync about 3-4Mb faster than any broadcom based modem. Even famous zyxel VMG1312-B10A sync lower than any lantiq based modem I tried on my line. Also if you get fastpath on downstream lantiq based modem is better as FEC are still on downstream which help reduce CRC (at least in my case) especially where you are on ECI cabinet. This is what G.inp enable on Huawei cabinet on broadcom based modems. I think HG612 maybe good to mantain line till you get fastpath, and then you maybe able to switch back to vigor, this is how I used to do with zyxel.
