Hi all,
Currently have a HP 18-10 network switch and am considering replacing it with a Aruba network switch with some more ports.
Has anyone here ever used one? Do you know if your able to turn the LED lights off on the switch? For example, on the HP 18-10 I have it set to turn of lights at a certain time each night and come on again at a certain time in the morning just to stop there being loads of lights on a night etc.
Thanks
Kev

October 21, 2022 at 11:02 pm #21376Hi,
yes, was aware but looks like interface etc has changed and couldn’t find details of how to turn leds off. I saw some reference to power save mode but only in reference to APs.
no actual model exactly but maybe 1930 or 2530 switches? Was considering a 48:port but it looks like finless only up to 24 port switches (non Poe). So might have to go 24port.
thanks

I have a buddy whom is into all things networking (mainly Cisco) so will drop him a message to see what he thinks
I did have a quick look at the Aruba Instant On 1960 Switch Series Management and Configuration Guide and noticed the following.
LED Mode:
This button determines the Port LED indication. Press this button to change to a different mode. The supported modes are:
Link/activity – this is the default mode of device operation. There is no indication for this mode (speed, stacking and PoE Mode LEDs are off). The LED Mode will switch back to the link/activity state 10 min- utes after selecting a non-default mode (speed, stacking or PoE)
• Speed
• Stacking
• PoE (for units that support PoE)The speed, stacking and PoE LED modes have specific global LED indicating the selected mode

October 22, 2022 at 9:02 am #21384Thanks. Yes I saw a power save mode but nothing about turning them all off which I like and stops the glow/flashing lights of a night.

October 25, 2022 at 11:27 am #21404My colleague has come back and said he has used Aruba switches in the past, alas cannot recall if there is any option to disable LED’s, but he did say he believes the 5000 series does not actually have LED, at least not for each port, so maybe worth investigating
