    Afternoon all,

Currently debating upgrading my now 5+ year old Netgear D6400. Am a BT Broadband FTTC customer that long ago dropped their Hub/modem boxes (Home Hub 3 and the white openreach modem) and so pretty much looking at a combined DSL Modem/Router  because of that.

As a result of needing the combined option (unless you guys can recommend a seperate modem somewhere) choice seems a little limited now a days and the Asus DSL-AX82U seems to be one of the better ones out there. Just wondered what peoples opinions were on it and if you had any better alternatives?

I’m “pretty” techy as used to be in IT/Networking but age/knowledge slip has grown since leaving that industry, but shouldn’t have issues setting up whether it be a combi or seperate boxes option.

Welcome, I have my DSL-AX82U plugged in currently as testing some new firmware .

DSL-AX82U seems stable and runs nicely, it is Broadcom DSL so sits happily with G.INP etc. if you are not on a ECI cab.

ASUS kit is technical and sometimes buggy, but lots of options to choose from and as yet have not tried IPv6.

There is also the Draytek Vigor 130 modem which runs a Lantiq (Intel) chipset that has dedicated BT approved firmware if you are looking for a good modem etc.

    https://www.draytek.co.uk/products/business/vigor-130

and lastly there are the FritzBox 7530 AX and the FritzBox 7590 AX (international)  which are very good modem/routers combo’s but you have to ensure it meets your needs and wifi coveridge maybe an issue in larger houses etc.

If you go the Draytek Vigor 130 router, the Asus AX86U is another options, they also do a AX86S which is bit cheaper.

I was going to try the DSL  AX82U but as I’m on ECI decided against it and kept the 130 with AX86U , can log in to the 130 as well to check stats via web browser. Got a DLM reset recently as bt guarantee 70 down ,been getting 66 for ages and used to be 73 so was going to try it ,anyway back to 66 again ….lol…I’ll just live with it

Being on an ECI cab does restrict you a little, as they say, if it works ……

    Hi,
    386_46065
If it is a higher version than version 6065, is it possible to send it to me?

Yes, the developer may remember this, especially those related to ipv6.

Understood, as you sent feedback directly to ASUS, with ‘UK Sentinel’ in comments box, then hopefully they took notice of your feedback

I will chase ASUS next week for any news of an update for public release  (if I remember)

Yes, we contacted the developer for a month because of the time difference in between and he got some results but didn’t release an update.

UK Sentinel, it wasn’t about you. Thank you so much again for doing everything you can for us.

Ok, so I have spoken with ASUS and they are releasing a new firmware in the next couple of days for the DSL-AX82U via there download servers.

I do not have access to changelog as yet, but will post as soon as it arrives
