Hi, I have recently switched to one stream and as the charge a monthly fee for a a router and I already had a mesh network setup (old house thick stone walls) successfully for several years I thought I could buy a cheap old vdsl router and use this as a modem similar to my old setup with nowtv.
My problem is I’m getting a DSL light on the router but the internet isn’t connecting and one stream are saying that they cannot help me with a 3rd party router.
As I bought the router 2nd hand (from CEX) then I’m sure if it’s a faulty router or it’s a fault of the settings

April 30, 2024 at 7:06 pm #32064Welcome, The DSL-N16 is an old model router, but they are robust.
What ISP was you using previously and did the previous modem also act as a router.
I ask as the DSL-N16 from what I remember cannot be used as a modem only, there is no option for Bridge mode but can be used as modem and router if that makes sense ?

April 30, 2024 at 7:54 pm #32065Connected via ethernet cable to a set of three tenda nova MW3. The nowtv box is just the standard router that gets sent out when you join.

April 30, 2024 at 8:29 pm #32066Sorry just read that properly, (tried to reply whilst out with the dog). The nowtv router was the model NR801. Hasn’t got a manufacturer that I can tell
I use the modem router as a as a router just turn off the wifi as the coverage isn’t good enough and use a set of 3 Tenda Nova MW3 in bridge mode so they provide the WiFi and the router provides the internet access to them via ethernet. This has worked fine for a few years now but as it was time to switch providers I decided to give onestream a go just refused to pay ÂŁ3 a month for a router that costs ÂŁ25 new (Looks like a TP Link TD-W9970) . I have now ordered one from amazon to check if I can get it to work but that wont arrive till tomorrow and if I can get the Asus to work I can send it back.

April 30, 2024 at 8:31 pm #32067No problem, Does sound initially like a set-up error, have your configured the DSL-N16 for Onestream’s PPPoE username and password and you need to set VLAN to 101.

April 30, 2024 at 8:55 pm #32068Fixed thank you very much. It was the VLAN, there was no mention of setting that in the onestream instructions.

May 1, 2024 at 6:02 am #32069Great news and glad you are all sorted

Just one area to consider, ensure the DSL-N16 is running the latest firmware Version 1.1.2.3_999 as this ensures all security updates are applied.
