So thought I would release some images I have of my DSL-AX82U with the top cover removed.

(a very compact Main Board it has)

Cooling is slightly simpler than the RT-AX82U model, and ethernet ports do not have a metal frame.

Would be interesting to compare the  MB on an RT-AX82U as it must be simular in both shape and size to the DSL-AX82U ?

CPU is not similar and the cooling requirement may be different.

Good point, also DSL-AX82U is newer than RT-AX82U, so maybe have learn’t form the RT-AX82U design

So had to replace the DC power Socket on my DSL-Ax82U Motherboard as it was faulty

For reference, ASUS seem to like using for there Modem / Routers the ….

    ;- PCB Mount DC 2.1mm x 5.5mm Power Socket /  DC-005 Barrel Connector.

Usually only cold soldering and no need to completely replace the socket.

Absolutely, lots of PCB boards do suffer from cold soldering mechanical failure/cracking, for me, the DC jack plug goes in and then falls out, as part of the socket plate (pin 3) that presses against the jack plug has mechanical failed (weak) which is a real pain.
