Hi, is it possible to request a feature on future firmware updates. I would like to request that the DDNS feature would not offer a list of predetermined providers but offer the user the option to submit their own server details. Not all of us subscribe to N0-Ip etc. There are many providers out there, and a lot cheaper than the ones on the predetermined list.

Unsure which ASUS router you use. but a Nice idea, I can pass your request back to ASUS for them to consider, you have placed your request within the ASUSWRT – Merlin section , this firmware which is based on ASUS firmware is then modified by a chap called RMerlin – maybe worth putting in a request via the Forum he uses called https://www.snbforums.com/forums/asuswrt-merlin.42/
Hope that helps ?

January 2, 2020 at 10:33 pm #5606Hi,
I bought a DSL AC88U thinking i could put merlin on it, alas, your port is for the AC68U, is there any glimmer of you making it for the DSL AC88U ?
Thanks.

January 3, 2020 at 6:33 am #5607Welcome, the DSL-AC88U is a modem router combo, ASUSWRT-Merlin is for Routers (RT) only.
I have flash/hacked the DSL-AC68U with ASUSWRT-Merlin suitable for the RT-AC68U. as they use they use the same wifi chipset etc. but alas the DSL-AC88U does not use the same wifi chipsets as any other RT router model
I would if possible return the DSL-AC88U and purchase a separate modem and router set

January 3, 2020 at 8:46 am #5608You’ve been told more than once in snb forum the home of Merlin. No need to ask anywhere else, you can write your own fork but nobody in the world would do it for your convenience.
Even you asked before buying and despite our answers you bought this modemrouter – hard to help.
Here you get no fork of any firmware, only maybe beta versions of Asus.
And good advise how you can use our modem and router in UK with much knowledge about ISPs in UK and special needs for them.

January 3, 2020 at 9:23 am #5611I see, Yes alas no option for myself porting ASUSWRT-Merlin code onto the DSL-AC88U (No suitable ASUSWRT-Merlin firmware’s) and if you are looking at incorporating diversion (Ad Blocker) is not possible with DSL-AC88U ASUS Stock – you need DD-WRT or RMerlin alternative (RMerlin is the best) etc.
Hope that helps ?

You could just add specific DNS Servers that block adds automatically – such as https://alternate-dns.com/
This you can achieve with your DSL-AC88U
Primary: 23.253.163.53
Secondary: 198.101.242.72

January 3, 2020 at 2:22 pm #5614you can also try https://nextdns.io/ that have various capabilities including Ad blocking

Refer to the custom DDNS option https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Custom-DDNS if you do a search, I think you’ll find several scripts already written.
