We use a ROYAL 1216X Crosscut Shredder for all our shredding needs and it has served us well over the years.
Alas after recent usage, the power button light goes On and Off but the cutting head no longer works and neither does the manual Forward and Reverse buttons.
After lifting the lid (6 screws) and having a look at the circuit boards, I traced the fault back to a 2.2 Ohm Ceramic 7W resistor which was working as an open‑circuit.
Luckily I found an almost equivalent replacement on that famous auction site and opted for 10W rather than 7W to hopefully give it a little more robustness under heavy usage and now our paper shredder is working like it was new.
Hopefully a useful reference for other owners of the Royal 1216X Crosscut Shredder which has stopped working but power button light still functions.
