Hi all,
So to update this, same thing still happening but not seen it cause too many issues so i’ve let it be, however today it seems wifi went down on mutiple devices, including desktop PC (wired connection) could access email but no web browsing…
Having checked the logs, on router and this line seems to come up frequently i.e. every other line:-
wlceventd: _add_wlc_event_tbl(XXX): client table was full
I also got a msg saying DDNS lost connection and it came back around 1hr later, this was for router so I’m wondering if a potential ISP drop & WIFI issue was happening? I’m also still getting the disassociate and associate messages as mentioned previously int he thread. Are the devices just simply switching from 2.4 to 5ghz and then back to 2.4 repeatedly? not sure why….
So router has been up for 192 days so I’ve just rebooted and all seems ok again, it was also ok when I got home but I was unhappy about the above line saying client table full as I checked DHCP, router tables and no where near full so unsure how I view the table it referred to and how to clear it so did a reboot.
I am aware new firmware out (I’m on the one prior to the latest) but I also heard some smart plugs having issues connecting to 2.4 WIFI after some people updated so I’m holding off until I can see if is a general issue or just unique to those peoples setup.
This is on the RTAX86U (parents place) so not ideal when I’m a big stuck at work and the VOIP phone stopped working too, however when I got home after the DDNS had re-connected everything was working ok
I did a look online but only 1 link and no answer to the question as to what the line above means or how to access/prevent it happening.
Any advise?
Thanks
Kev

January 15, 2024 at 8:17 pm #29151So ‘wlceventd‘ monitors wireless connections/disconnect events and is an ASUS daemon.
‘client table was full‘ as the name suggest, means the table/log is full .
So I assume this may have caused the router to fall over due to table being full.
Does the ‘wlceventd: _add_wlc_event_tbl(XXX): client table was full‘ appear often ? and 192 days, wow!

January 15, 2024 at 8:46 pm #29152Yes very frequently – like every other line almost – with in a 1 hour time period, i have around 30 entries.. its almost constantly saying disassociate then associate with various mac addresses and this client table full log after every one….
Its virtually constantly doing it… Router is up 24/7/365, never turn it off. I think I last turned it off when it suffered that odd issue whereby a LED light comes on the front (quiet bright) and I thin I turned it off and back on then and the LED stayed off(I have them set to ff as otherwise it quiet bright of a night).
Since I rebooted the router much less lines…. however I have noticed that after I rebooted by DDNS had a green bell next to it. had to go into WAN -. DDNS and it shows my DDNS name and it had a IP on main page but said inactive on the DDNS tab so I clicked ok and it then updated and said active…
Also I’ve noticed this….

January 15, 2024 at 9:08 pm #29166Is your RT-AX86U running the latest firmware ?

January 15, 2024 at 9:19 pm #291701 version back 23285
Didn’t update to latest as saw reports of some smart plugs not connecting to 2.4 after update and had been fine on all previous versions so held back as I have some smart plugs and don’t want them not working so held back until I can confirm if isolated to particular brand/model or if just a few people and others are fine.

January 15, 2024 at 9:22 pm #29171Also to add CPU and memory not been maxed out when I looked before reboot, ram was only around 512ish out of the max 1024 so little over 50%, cpu looked normal, no core was running high, all just pretty low.
just checked again now, ram is 481MB, CPU cores fluctuate between 0 – 2%

January 15, 2024 at 9:29 pm #29174Is there a way to actually view the table that is full or a command you can run to clear it as opposed to rebooting router?
Just thinking I’m not sure how quickly the table will fill up again? does it purge/overwrite itself or simply need rebooting? Obviously I’ve managed 192 days so not a huge issue but just wondering incase it has become more of a issue recently as I don’t check the logs hardly at all so can’t tell if this has suddenly gone crazy last few days or if its been gradual over the 192 days…
Don’t want to get to stage of needing to rebooting it daily or weekly :)

January 15, 2024 at 9:32 pm #29175Ok, so not to old your firmware is.

After the ‘CPU: 0 PID: 3320 Comm: httpd Tainted: P O 4.1.52 #2’ is there a ‘rc_service: service’ type log entry, around 20 lines after the Tainted log event ?

January 15, 2024 at 9:45 pm #29177Just checked the log again and since the above most, I’ve had 4 lines:-
Time started 21:02
wlceventd_proc_event(xxx): eth7 Auth <mac address 1> status: successful
wlceventd_proc_event(xxx): eth7 Assoc <mac address 1> status: successful
wlceventd_proc_event(xxx): wl0.1 Auth <mac address 2> status: successful
wlceventd_proc_event(xxx): wl0.1 Assoc<mac address 2> status: successful
finished 21:10 – nothing since so looks to have calmed down for now…. will see how long it lasts, just don’t recall seeing that kernel stuff before at all.

January 16, 2024 at 7:54 am #29179So definitely an issue with httpd daemon and the service was restarted.

January 16, 2024 at 6:42 pm #29195So it was effectively the service which carries web traffic? How strange…. when the wlevent implied wireless with assoc/disassoc and auth issues…

January 16, 2024 at 7:57 pm #29204Generally yes, does this router have Remote Access enabled ?

January 16, 2024 at 8:11 pm #29207The only “remote access” is VPN, I don have it open so the Asus App can connect to it.
tbh I rarely connect to it via VPN but could should something happen and I can remotely fix it as opposed to having to visit.

January 16, 2024 at 9:14 pm #29215This could explain why the httpd daemon is in action ?
