My DSL AX 82U gained fastpath just under a week ago and bandwidth increased to within 13 kb/s of the downstream 20/80 package limit after several months during which non line related factors held up improvement e.g. brief power interruptions, updating firmware etc (it was interleaved since I put it in to replace my previous DSL/router combo)
Asus seems to have released a new firmware, so the question I have is how likely or otherwise is the disconnect triggered by updating the firmware to cause DLM to kick in? Also is there any way to minimise the prospect of that happening? I am obviously reluctant to lose 5mb+ in bandwidth and gain 10 ms in latency just to see if there is anything really worthwhile in the new firmware.
Any thoughts would be appreciated

September 1, 2021 at 5:49 pm #14998The latest update (Version 3.0.0.4.386_43600) is only minor UI related fixes, so not worth the risk
Are you on a ECI cab as I am interested if your Fastpath is downstream and G.inp etc ?

September 2, 2021 at 2:49 am #15001Thanks Won’t be updating it then.
ECI fastpath up and down G.inp off as the cab cannot do it. downstream SNR 4.3 db I used the stability adjustment a while back to improve the bandwidth as it was always a stable line with my previous modem/router (it gets around 180 error seconds/day at most downstream and 40 up now). In fact the increase in speed by the stability adjustment was less than that which happened when the DLM put me back on fastpath a week ago. before it went to fastpath inp was originally 4, moved to three on a previous occasion DLM intervened and now of course is at 0

September 2, 2021 at 4:19 am #15004That makes sense now, I did wonder how you achieved Fastpath (downsteam) if you had G.inp also, so as you say, you are on an ECI cab, so G.inp is not available on those yet (still)

September 2, 2021 at 8:21 pm #15009Yes. First time since the days of DSL I have pretty much got what the package could deliver and keen to keep it that way.
Suspect, even though I have not bothered to so so yet that I would get a full fibre connection from a local provider before G.inp is available on cabs around me. I gather they all seems to be ECI

September 3, 2021 at 6:43 am #15011If others are ECI cabs then G.inp is unlikely nowadays given the troubles they are having – FTTH / P is the way forward
But considering you do not have G.inp, your Synch rate sounds very good,

September 3, 2021 at 7:25 pm #15022Yes, I think you are right, the issues seem to be sufficient and the the investment priorities changed such that it may remain unfixed. Not really aa concern to me though as the synch rate is so good.
It did as mentioned need use of the stability adjustment by a couple of db to get it, but the error rate is not high enough to worry about and the variation in SNR over the day is no more than 0.2 db so it never drops below 4.1
I rather wish though that the 82U had a 2.5 gb port though as it would have been nice to benefit from a 2.5 gb uplink for AIMesh to an AX86 both now and after I eventually get FTTH

September 3, 2021 at 8:00 pm #15023Yes, A nice feature to have an additional 2.5 Gbps port – enjoy your Fastpath

September 4, 2021 at 7:34 am #15027@El3rt1cal or myself ?
I was using the @GNUton firmware for the DSL-AX82U_386.03_2-gnuton1_cferom_pureubi

The question was asked @ El3rt1cal.
sorry I didn’t specify who it was for!Bye
