September 27, 2023 at 7:44 pm #27148Yes, I saw this the other day. However, it seems you wont get a “refund” or cash payment, instead they will reduce there bills but there is no details yet of by how much or when this will happen or if you will actually see any indication on your bill of a deduction.
Thames water I believe was the worst (over 100m), as opposed to one other company did extremely well and made ÂŁ88m so they will be putting prices up.
For myself, I used to get a bill every 6 months, then it suddenly changed to yearly so I only get a bill in Oct so its due soon. What’s daft is they say we expect you to use x next year and it will cost you ÂŁy, then after that they increases the prices and I always end up wing them money as they then don’t adjust the monthly payment to take into account the increased charge so I now go in an increase it (based on a guess) and hope I don’t have a large bill. Last year I owed them ÂŁ15, which personally i hate owing anyone money so i made an immediate payment to clear it and effectively it reduced my DD by a very small amount but at least it was paid and I was up to date. I know they not fussed as they just incorporate it into the monthly payment but just not keen personally, like to be all squared away.

September 27, 2023 at 9:31 pm #27149When I read the article, not sure how payments are made, so maybe subtracted from bill at source.
Either way, long overdue this sort or customer compensation.

September 28, 2023 at 8:18 pm #27170Just got my bill today, I’m ÂŁ14 in credit lol No mention of any reduced prices etc so I guess they still working out what the prices will be and how to pass on the effective refund. They even asked if I want the money back in my bank… hardly worth it for ÂŁ14, might as well sit in my account and go towards next years bill.

Has anyone ever claimed any money back successfully from dieselgate? I’ve owned a few diesels over the years, see a lot of spam about claiming something back but never took it seriously

September 29, 2023 at 4:32 pm #27178Feel free to start a new topic under cars as I am also now thinking about this for the Diesel cars I have had over the years

Or I can create a new thread for Dieselgate when I arrive home tonight.

October 4, 2023 at 8:45 pm #27298Not sure if you saw this but given how the above pointed to us getting money back (by way of reduced bills), I saw this couple of days ago…
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-66979271
So I presume we are no longer getting cheaper bills as they want to increase them quiet substantially to raise give themselves ÂŁ96bn to improve infrastructure..

October 4, 2023 at 9:16 pm #27300Yes, I also saw a news article on TV the other day, Water industry regulator Ofwat will look at plans and I am sure they will include any compensation to be included in the overall costings and any monies we was going to receive will be going towards the proposal I guess

Time to put certain areas back into public ownership

October 5, 2023 at 11:23 am #27310It’s outrageous they want more money to invest in sewage treatment when they’ve already had the money and spaffed it. They’ve given so much money out in dividends when there shouldn’t have been any profits to pay dividends on – it should have been invested back in all these years.
If ofwat doesn’t put a stop to it and tell them to pay for it themselves then we can see whose side they’re really on.
Southern water are absolute criminals. They dump out into my local river several times a week even on dry days where there’s been no rain. They have no shame it’s clearly cheaper for them to just dump the waste and pay the fines rather than treat it.
