Interesting question raised by another forum member on another thread, Simply question, is Dieselgate in UK paying out yet ?

September 29, 2023 at 6:10 pm #27181I’ve had 2 Diesel cars MY 2012 & 2016, think both maybe eligible to claim but I never have, I’m not sure you would get much out of it tbh.
Not to mention your probably need to provide them with personal info regarding yourself & the car purchase etc plus if you chose to buy the car, why claim back?

September 29, 2023 at 7:44 pm #27183Just saw this….
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/diesel-emissions-group-legal-claims/
Doesn’t seem like you will actually get much as it seems they are saying you are unlikely to get 10k back, much less and looking at the table further down, the companies will take a fair bit off you if they win… cheapest seems to be Pogust Goodhead (My Diesel Claim), they take 50% inc. VAT & expenses. On there website however it says the max is 50% and it could be as low as 20% they take. I guess this depends on how much work they did on your case & how much your awarded. i.e. if you get 1k, I guess they unlikely to charge you 50% but if you got 10k, they might week charge 50%.. who knows.
Interesting it seems likely only VW (who settled out of court) and Mercedes have actually gone or were going to go to trial so far. Other car manufacturers have no dates set so I guess not sufficient claims/grounds to bring a case yet…

September 29, 2023 at 7:58 pm #27185They take more in % if they manage to wrest less, so for <1k maybe 50% and for more downto 20% to get back their costs.
Here in Austria I am still waiting and they will take 30% fixed. But dont think to get much (maybe about 1k€ probably in the next 3-5 years).
But already I got 500€ from my legal protection insurance to dont start an individual court case which they would have to pay for.You need to login in order to vote
September 29, 2023 at 8:06 pm #27187I think ‘but not sure’, apart from Mercedes and maybe VW Group, most of the other vehicle Engine Manufactures are still challenging the emissions violations in court.
I use the term ‘Engine Manufacturer’, because Nissan as an example, they tend to use Renault Powertrains in the UK/EU.

October 6, 2023 at 6:00 am #27321I did read this the other day for VW, seems for VW owners, Dieselgate claims are now closed.
Unfortunately, the Volkswagen Dieselgate claim is closed for any new claimants. Something called a statute of limitations limits the time frame in which people can claim. In this case, it was the end of 2021, six years after the VW defeat device software became publicly known in England and Wales. This means you can no longer make a VW emission claim for compensation.

October 6, 2023 at 2:08 pm #27409I’ve submitted claims for a few of my historical diesel cars through ‘mydieselclaim.com’. IMO I don’t really mind if they take up to 50% or whatever of the money, if it actually comes off it’s money for nothing really, fingers crossed.

October 6, 2023 at 7:34 pm #27415Interesting, when you submitted your various claims, did ‘mydieselclaim.com’ say whether any of the car manufacturers had admitted responsibility, or is it that they will still need to go through the litigation process with each vehicle manufacturer ?
Was there any mention of timescales ?

October 10, 2023 at 11:36 am #27471Only that they’d been involved in the VW one which did agree a settlement. No mention of timescales for any of the others. As its no win no fee I just put my old vehicles in and hopefully one day in the future maybe some pennies might come my way from it, who knows.
