Agree, I use main high street banks for main account activity, i only got chase due to the 1% case back so I effectively transfer some money to chase, use it in shops/online and benefit from the 1% cash back as there is no fee.  I have looked elsewhere, Santander do a similar card offering 2% cashback in 1st year, then 1% after but it has a £3 a month fee so effectively I’ve got to make £3 in cash back to break even, anything extra is a gain so not as favourable.

I have reluctantly submitted some info but I basically made it up, I mean how much money will you pay in/take out each month – how am I gig to know that as it varies month to make and not necessarily I the same ball park i.e. might need to buy a more expensive item one month, might not have as much to buy another month hence not paying in as much etc…

I left a reply to a thread started by someone else a while back on another forum and they seem sure its all to do with preventing fraud and stuff but have also said they cannot confirm any details i.e. salary, when I started my job etc so I just made up a figure, no way am i giving them that info as I just don’t see why they need it, especially when they say its to confirm my personal info? I mean its not a credit card, I have no DD/SO coming out, its literally a account I pay some money into and then use it as day to day buying.  Was tempted to close it but someone said if you close a chase account, they wont let you re-open another i.e. if closed all accounts.

If a alternative/better card comes along, I think I’d be tempted to switch tbh, not keen on this “big brother wants to know all your personal info” I mean I get they need to confirm address, name, email etc but they only asked for address.  They already have confirmed my identity when I opened the account so its all a bit odd especially when they will stop you being able to use account if you don’t answer the questions.
