Well on mine problem is that even than link speed on my mobile is 866Mb doing speed test I can get max 45Mb/s (closer to router, upstairs ridiculous 2-3Mb where link speed is about 390Mb, faster speed test is on 2.4Ghz), when I do speed test on my pc (link speed 1.3Gb/s) I get full speed of my broadband like 69-71Mb/s. Only two devices are connected to 5G (my pc and my son) rest devices through 2.4g that is why I disabled mu mimo.
It was fine on previous router. 2.4G is very stable, watching full hd movie on smart tv (wifi 2.4g) from cloud connected to router through lan no issues at all with kids watching YouTube etc. Only issues when mobile phone connected to 5G, got poor performance, I thought maybe something happened to my mobile but tested on my brother router (ee supplied) and was perfectly fine. Mobile phone is lg V30.
December 19, 2019 at 11:25 pm #5494Just done quick test, with explicit beamforming smart tv upstairs can’t play movies properly, keep dropping, after turned off all good, also with beam forming for ac I got slower link with mobile phone from bedroom and speed test exactly the same…
So when I got these options turned off is actually better then keep them on.
December 20, 2019 at 9:44 am #5495I may have missed this recommendation, but I have had issues with Broadcoms QAM , as this only really works with other Broadcom Nics and has issue over distances, maybe try changing to Modulation Scheme to 9 MCS (TurboQAM) (2.4 and 5GHz) and re-enable the beamforming options recommended by @XRW etc.
After making changes, reboot router.
Beamforming does work and is a great idea, position aerials as in pic below and/or try tilting the middle two aerials slightly to help with upstairs connections ?

December 20, 2019 at 10:00 am #5497I believe in mobile phone is broadcom chipset, not sure about tv… However it looks like only one mobile phone have issue with this, already did factory reset on mobile and is still same. I will try to change QAM and will see from there.
December 20, 2019 at 10:56 am #5498O.K, tested above settings and all is the same (my mobile) for some reason something limiting my mobile to 45Mb/s on Internet… No QOS, nothing special set on router, I may try different fw now 😏

December 20, 2019 at 12:42 pm #5500Not at all 😝
I leave on latest Merlin and still will enjoy, one mobile phone is not issue at all where all other devices working 😅

December 20, 2019 at 7:09 pm #5503New alpha build available 384.15_Alpha, apparently stable? 🤔

December 21, 2019 at 9:21 am #5505no i have not tested 384.15 Alpha version , it’s based on new SDK which do have issue with Upstream QOS right now .. so i will wait till beta to test ….
what’s model number of Mobile Phone and TV you have ? which your having issue with
December 21, 2019 at 9:52 am #5506I don’t have problem with tv unless I turn on beam forming, mobile phone is LG v30, don’t know why is so slow, in generally wifi signal is stronger than any other wifi router its just speed on that signal is poor. It’s like driving 600bhp car with speed 30 km/h. 😂
December 21, 2019 at 10:04 am #5507coool,
hmmm LG v30 is pretty strong phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SOC
i have HTC U11 which use same SOC and max out over 300Mbps + speed
login to router , click on system log –> wireless log
post screenshot of that ? ( hide MAC address and device that are not having issue before posting )
also i want to ask which site are u using to test speedtest.net ? or fast.com ?

December 21, 2019 at 10:26 am #5509I use speedtest app or website, never had any issues like that even on last dsl-ac88u, old rt-ac68u give me over 60Mb/s on my mobile.
Screenshot attached, mine is second from top (currently on 2.4 Ghz) , one above is my wife LG G6 for comparison. Not much connected yet as kids just woke up 😝

December 21, 2019 at 12:21 pm #5513why you have connected AC devices on 2.4Ghz ? ( name G6 . V30 , android )
connect them to 5Ghz ? and speed test ? ( also use static channel number between 36 to 48 or 149+ ) and if there is issue test it on 80MHz bandwidth .. ( 160MHz use DFS soo sometimes connectivity issue comes up with some devices .. where SSID not showing etc etc )
————————————————————————————
G6 is 2 Streams but it seems to be connected at 1 streams = max link speed will be 433Mbps on 5GhzV30 is connected at 2 streams = so max link speed will 866Mbps on 5Ghz
android i cant say by name but connected at 1 stream = so max speed link speed will be 433Mbps on 5Ghz
————————————————————————–
here in 5Ghz AC Wave 21 stream = 1×1 MIMO = 433Mbps
2 Streams = 2×2 MIMO = 433Mbps x 2 = 866Mbps2×2 AC device @ 80MHz @ channel 36 = 866Mbps = 216.5 Mbps x 4 20MHz channels comb (36 ,40 , 44 , 48 )
2×2 AC device @ 160MHz @ channel 36 = 1,732 Mbps =2165.5 Mbps x 8 20MHz channels comb ( 36, 40, 44 , 48 and DFS channel 52, 56, 60, 64 )please correct me if i’m wrong
