Upgraded router merlin fw to 384.17 this morning, did a factory reset, and connected HG612 lan2 to router.  I can access modem through router now.

Seen this in router stats, getting this log every 3 seconds or so – May 2 09:52:09 kernel: br0: received packet on eth1 with own address as source address ?

Check if modem hold connection, these stats are only from 10 mins, unless you reboot modem as well with router.

How did you configure router? 🤔

With two cable option you should have automatic wan IP, you can change dns if you want. To give modem ip like on vigor don’t give you any benefits, but can cause issues with two cables option.

Yes, and make sure HG612 have different IP on lan than asus but they must be in same IP group eg. 192.168.1.xx.

@bully is using single cable option I think ?

When I used eci modem with two cables all was configured like that:

    Modem – lan 192.168.1.2

    Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

    Router – 192.168.1.1

    Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Wan IP automatically, as you access modem through lan port.

Also as mentioned earlier setup in lan in router start address from eg 192.168.1.6 so router will not assign IP dedicated for modem lan to other device. Then you should see modem ip eg. 192.168.1.2 on your connected devices list.

Set wan IP on router to auto, i have internet but now cannot access modem.

***EDIT*** – CHANGED BACK TO MANUAL AND I CAN NOW ACCESS MODEM.

2 cable option as of this morning.

If you are then that will fail, @Mrk26 option should work
