I would give BT a call and see what they say regarding line condition and noise on line whilst on a call,
We have exhausted most technical options apart from your landline phone, so maybe worth a try next week

July 11, 2020 at 4:01 pm #8318How can I choose the best landline phone that will not cause me more grief on my broadband? Is Panasonic a good choice or a BT branded one?
July 11, 2020 at 5:01 pm #8319Gigaset is my choice of brand and I own one.
Alas for yourself, we never got to the stage to determine if Landline was unplugged for a few days, to see whether the phone or extension was root cause of your many FEC’s.
Alas just purchasing a new phone may not help with the FEC’s you are getting?
BTW- how’s your stats looking and did you manage to contact BT for landline fault check ?
Alas it is unfortunately a process of elimination

July 11, 2020 at 5:22 pm #8320We want a new phone regardless.
I did a BT online check and it came back with no issues on phone line or broadband. That may not be a good way to do it and probably best to call them to check.

Go for a Gigaset (Siemens) model and I am sure it will last many years
Edit: I forgot to say, I believe the Cabinet uses ES value for DLM, hence your issues with synch rate maybe, FEC’s are not so important and High CRC’s should be avoided if at all possible.

July 15, 2020 at 9:38 am #8333@Bully – I had another look at your Line details and you can get in your area a service known as
FTTP – ‘On demand’ and in essence they lay a dedicated Fibre cable from your local FTTC cabinet to your home, not a cheap option but an option never-the-less
Alas all the old copper and Aluminum DSL cables in the UK are getting older and Fibre is our only salvation
———–
FTTP – On demand / (GEA-FTTP)
Fibre to the Premises on Demand enables you to order Generic Ethernet Access over Fibre to the Premises (GEA-FTTP) in speeds up to 1Gbps for your customers who are within a Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) exchange area and are served by a FTTC enabled cabinet

July 15, 2020 at 5:04 pm #8338Thanks for the info.
I would do this but I contacted Openreach or BT (I can’t remember which) and they said it was unavailable in my area.
I will enquire again.
July 15, 2020 at 5:32 pm #8339Make sure you ask for ‘FTTP – On demand’ and not FTTP

July 29, 2020 at 3:24 pm #8660@Bully, how’s the line looking, did you have any progress with FTTP – On Demand ?

August 1, 2020 at 8:41 am #8694@Bully, how’s the line looking, did you have any progress with FTTP – On Demand ?
Hi, I have not enquired about FTTP, nor have I purchased and new landline phone
. The line is solid, no disconnects for weeks, still an interleave depth of 559. 35 mbps download and 10mbps upload.
August 1, 2020 at 9:20 am #8695Shame but totally understandable from your perspective.
Hopefully G.inp will reach your ECI cab in the near future and you will enjoy the extra 10 Mbps or so increase
I will close this thread now if Ok with yourself ?

August 1, 2020 at 9:50 am #8696Yeah that’s fine.
